Crew: Mt. Adams Trip without Mt. Adams

posted in: Crew

Mt. Adams still has a closed sign on it. So our good pal Dave Hansen researched some options and came up with lots of good ideas, all having to do with hiking near Mt. Hood. We talked, and picked the one that sounded the most scenic. (See the link below.) It’s on the north flank of Mt. Hood. There are actually quite a few options 755px-Mount_Hood_reflected_in_Mirror_Lake,_Oregon[1]for a loop hike, so Dave and Diana will be cementing the plans tomorrow, but Diana wanted to let you know about the general area where the Crew will be hiking. It should be beautiful; hiking around Mt. Hood, especially the north side, is gorgeous.

Crew will be well situated to get to either the White Salmon or the Deschutes on Sunday, with a great breakfast first in Hood River, Or. Then Monday, we will be gorge exploring on the Oregon side of the Columbia. We drive home Monday evening.

Don’t forget to print out BSA health forms Parts A, B, and C, get them filled out, make a copy of it as well as the front and back of your insurance card. Them email Diana and let her know you have them. If your health forms have been turned into Beth W for troop activities, email Diana and let her know.

Don’t forget to print out the waiver for rafting from River Drifters, sign it and have your parents sign it.

Diana needs some people to shop for food on Wednesday, Aug. 19th, the day before Crew leaves.

Please use the pack list on the google drive page, minus the crampons and ice ax. See the “WS HALF DAY.pdf” for what to bring for the raft trip. And no cell phones! It’s still a cell-phone-free trip!

Let Diana know if you have any questions.
