First Class Requirements #2 & #9c on FEB 9th, 10AM.

If you are a scout below First Class rank (that means Scout, Tenderfoot or Second Class) and you are looking to get either First Class Requirements 2 or 9c signed off, then pay attention – here’s your next opportunity.

Dave Hansen will be hosting a morning outing at Magnuson Park at 10:00am on Feb 9th to cover the following two First Class Requirements:
#2: “Using a map and compass, complete an orienteering course that covers at least one mile and requires measuring the height and/or width of designated items (tree, tower, canyon, ditch, etc.).”
#9c: “With a helper and a practice victim, show a line rescue both as tender and as rescuer. (The practice victim should be approximately 30 feet from shore in deep water.)”
We’ll actually simulate being in deep water since Dave’s not going to make the boys actually swim in Lake Washington this time of year (and Rod says that is okay).
Also, it would be very helpful if Dave had one or two scouts that are Star rank or above to help him conduct the exercises and sign off on the scouts.
Dave’s also looking for one or two additional parents to assist and make sure we are meeting Boy Scout adult attendance requirements.
This should take less than 2 hours, so we should be done by noon.
Please reply to Dave Hansen if you are a scout wanting the requirement; or a scout willing to help with the exercise; or an adult willing to assist.
