There are 21 badges that are required for Eagle rank, and more than 100 others that can be earned. Something for everyone! For each badge, there is a merit badge book with much of the information necessary to complete the requirement. The Troop has an extensive library of these books in the storeroom, and they can also be purchased from the Scout Shop at the Chief Seattle Council office.
The Advancement Chair has a list of merit badge counselors. When a Scout wants to work on a badge, he needs to obtain a Blue Card from the Scoutmaster or Advancement Chair, call a merit badge counselor to express interest, and meet with the counselor when requirements are completed. The Scout must appear in uniform when meeting with their counselor. The Scout must also be accompanied by another Scout, a parent, or another adult at these meetings.
Merit badges are awarded at Courts of Honor and are worn on a Scout’s merit badge sash.
