Usually the boys and adult leaders head off into the great outdoors once a month to hike, camp, or attend a boy scout function at a local Boy Scout Camp. Summers typically find the boys heading to camp for a week to have fun and learn while earning more <a href="https://troop100seattle.com/?encyclopedia=merit-badge" target="_self" title="There are 21 badges that are required for Eagle rank, and more than 100 others that can be earned. Only the finest, freshest trees will be sold by the Boy Scouts. Working for many years now with four local tree growers, these growers allow us to hand select during the summer and fall many of the trees we sell, and these growers cut our trees just days before getting to the lot in Ballard. Folks return year after year to buy their trees from the Scouts. In fact, many customers are former Troop 100 scouts

The troop is fortunate to have been able to purchase a former school bus to shuttle the boys to all their various outings. Three years ago, the troop purchased a newer, reliable school bus and transformed it into the ‘<a href="https://troop100seattle.com/?encyclopedia=white-whale" target="_self" title="This is the name given to the white bus that we use to transport Scouts on trips and excursions. The Venturing Crew is for boys and girls ages 14 (or 13 years old and the completion of 8th grade) to 20 and is geared toward the slightly more adventurous youth. Meetings are generally held twice a month, also on Thursdays (before the troop meeting) and also at Trinity United Methodist Church. Past outings have included day and weekend hikes in the Cascades, a snow weekend at a local Boy Scout camp and the highlight of each summer is a ‘supertrip’, a trip that has two or three activities. Past supertrips have included climbing to the summit of Mt. Adams, river rafting in Washington and Oregon, backpacking in the Cascades, and small gorge exploring. We usually take one weekend trip every month – backpacking, mountain biking, skiing, the crew likes to do it all!

If you would like more information about the troop, contact:

Chip McElearney, <a href="https://troop100seattle.com/?encyclopedia=troop-committee" target="_self" title="This committee is composed of the Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, and registered adult leaders.
